Crispy Air Fryer Toast Cups with Eggs Recipe

Allan
Crispy Air Fryer Toast Cups with Eggs turn everyday bread and eggs into a golden, savory breakfast with minimal preparation. Shape flattened bread in suitable molds, add eggs and seasonings, and air fry at 320°F (160°C) until the bread is crisp and the eggs are cooked through. Customize the cups with cheese, turkey bacon, chicken sausage, or vegetables, and serve them fresh for the best texture. They're a convenient option for weekday breakfasts, weekend brunches, and simple family meals.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices sandwich bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted
  • ¼ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese optional
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives or parsley optional, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer. Preheat to 320°F (160°C) for 3 minutes, following your appliance's instructions.
  • Flatten the bread. Use a rolling pin or the bottom of a clean glass to flatten each bread slice until flexible but not torn.
  • Shape the cups. Press one slice into each of four air-fryer-safe silicone muffin cups or suitable oven-safe molds. Gently press the bread into the base and up the sides.
  • Brush with butter. Lightly brush the inside of each bread cup with melted butter, including the edges.
  • Add the eggs. Crack one large egg into each cup. If the molds are shallow, use smaller eggs or beat the eggs and add only enough to fit safely.
  • Season. Sprinkle the eggs with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Add shredded cheddar if desired.
  • Air fry. Cook at 320°F (160°C) for 8–12 minutes, checking from the 8-minute mark. Continue cooking in 1–2-minute increments if needed. Cooking time will depend on your air fryer and mold depth.
  • Check for doneness. Ensure the egg white is set and the egg reaches 160°F (71°C) for a fully cooked egg dish. Do not rely on bread color alone.
  • Rest briefly. Carefully remove the molds using heat-resistant gloves or suitable tongs. Let the cups rest for 1–2 minutes.
  • Serve. Gently release the cups from their molds, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve warm.
  • Recipe Notes: For crispier bread, use sturdy slices and avoid excess butter. Cook in batches if the molds crowd your basket. Optional toppings will change the nutrition information.
