Ingredients

  • Strawberries – 1 cup
  • Blueberries – 1 cup
  • Raspberries – 1 cup
  • Blackberries – ½ cup
  • Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
  • Sweetener – 1–2 tbsp

Instructions

  • Start by placing all your berries in a colander and rinsing them gently under cold running water. Be careful not to press or rub them too hard, especially raspberries and blackberries, as they are delicate. Once washed, spread them out on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and pat them completely dry. This step is very important because excess moisture can make your fruit salad watery and dilute the flavor.
  • Take your strawberries and remove the green tops using a sharp knife. Slice them into even, bite-sized pieces—either halves or quarters depending on their size. Keeping the pieces uniform helps the salad look more appealing and ensures every bite has a balanced mix of flavors.
  • Transfer all your prepared fruits—strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries—into a large mixing bowl. Choose a bowl with enough space so you can toss everything easily without crushing the softer berries.
  • Drizzle the fresh lemon juice evenly over the fruit. Try to spread it across the entire bowl rather than pouring it in one spot. This will enhance the natural flavors, add a refreshing tang, and help keep the fruit looking vibrant and fresh.
  • Sprinkle your powdered sweetener gradually over the berries. Start with a small amount, then gently toss the fruit using a spoon or spatula. Taste and adjust if needed. Mixing gently is key here—use a folding motion rather than stirring aggressively to avoid breaking the berries.
  • If you’re using vanilla extract, add a small splash at this stage. It may seem like a small detail, but it adds a subtle, dessert-like aroma that elevates the entire dish. Gently fold again to distribute it evenly.
  • Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for about 15–20 minutes. This resting time allows the flavors to blend together beautifully and gives the salad a chilled, refreshing taste that’s perfect for serving.
  • Once chilled, give the fruit salad a very light toss, transfer it to your serving bowl if needed, and serve immediately. For the best experience, enjoy it fresh while the berries are still firm, juicy, and full of flavor.
