Ingredients
  

For the Brownie Base:

  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the French Silk Layer:

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate melted and cooled
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs

For the Whipped Topping:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish, optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan, then mix in sugar and cocoa powder. Let cool.
  • Whisk in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt until combined.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely.
  • Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add melted chocolate and vanilla.
  • Mix in eggs, beating well after each.
  • Whip cream until stiff peaks form, then fold into the chocolate mixture.
  • Spread over brownies and chill for at least 2 hours.
