For the Brownie Base:
- 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the French Silk Layer:
- ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate melted and cooled
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
For the Whipped Topping:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings for garnish, optional
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.
Melt butter in a saucepan, then mix in sugar and cocoa powder. Let cool.
Whisk in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt until combined.
Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely.
Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add melted chocolate and vanilla.
Mix in eggs, beating well after each.
Whip cream until stiff peaks form, then fold into the chocolate mixture.
Spread over brownies and chill for at least 2 hours.
