Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). While it heats, lightly grease a medium-sized casserole dish with butter or a thin layer of oil. This step is important—it prevents sticking and makes serving much easier later.
Place a large skillet on medium heat and add the butter. Once melted, add the ground beef. Break it apart using a spatula or wooden spoon as it cooks. Continue cooking until the beef is fully browned with no pink remaining. If there’s excess fat, carefully drain a little, but leave some for flavor.
Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic directly into the skillet with the beef. Stir continuously for 2–3 minutes until the onions become soft and slightly translucent and the garlic turns fragrant. This step builds the base flavor, so don’t rush it.
Add the green beans to the skillet and mix well with the beef mixture. Cook for about 3–4 minutes, just until they begin to soften slightly. They don’t need to be fully cooked at this stage—they’ll finish cooking in the oven and stay perfectly tender.
In a separate bowl, combine the heavy cream, softened cream cheese, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Whisk or stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no lumps. If the cream cheese is too firm, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before mixing.
Pour the prepared creamy sauce into the skillet with the beef and green beans. Stir everything together thoroughly, making sure all ingredients are evenly coated in the sauce. Let it cook for another minute so the flavors begin to blend.
Carefully transfer the entire mixture from the skillet into your prepared casserole dish. Use a spatula to spread it out evenly so it cooks uniformly and every bite has a balanced mix of ingredients.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. Make sure to cover the entire surface—this creates that irresistible golden, cheesy layer once baked.
Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when the cheese is fully melted, bubbling around the edges, and lightly golden on top.
Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. This resting time helps the casserole set, making it easier to slice and serve while keeping all the layers intact.
